What's In A Name - Shakti Mat

Shakti Mat Yantra Symbol

Yantra In Your Shakti Mat

The Shakti acupressure mat has been developed to exacting standards to help mind, body and spirit processes. Attention to detail includes such areas as printing the Yantra symbol on the reverse of the mat. Yantra is the Sanskrit word for "instrument" or "machine". Traditionally such symbols are used in Eastern mysticism to balance the mind or focus it on spiritual concepts. The act of wearing, depicting, enacting and/or concentrating on a yantra is held to have spiritual or astrological or magical benefits within the tantric dimension of the Dharmic Traditions.

The back of the Shakti Mat has been decorated with the beautiful power symbol Shree Yantra. It is in the yoga tradition considered the most complete geometric shape. It is considered to be 70 times more powerful than the shape of the pyramid. Both halves of the brain are stimulated and a deep state of meditation can be reached. According to Vastu, which is the origin of Feng Shui, the Shree Yantra is the best tool to create balance in the home. For best results hang your Shree Yantra in the North Eastern corner of the home. It is said to increase prosperity, create harmony and protect against accidents.

Shakti is the name

The word "shakti" is Sanskrit for female power, compassion, and the nurturing, warm, creative spark. In other words, the opposite end of the spectrum of today’s stress-filled society. The Shakti Mat is crafted in India, primarily in our temple-factory located in the holy city of Varanasi.

Chi

Chi has been written about and studied for over ten thousand years, from China and Japan to India, and South America. Chi is the energy of life itself, recognized as the balance of Yin and Yang (male and female, positive and negative, electromagnetic energy), which flows through everything in creation. Chi is at the foundation of many health and fitness practices such as Massage, Yoga, Martial Arts, Reiki, Feng Shui and Acupressure.

How to use The Shakti Mat

Place your Shakti Mat on a flat surace or on a bed. A neck pillow is useful or a rolled up towel underneath the mat to support your neck. Ruth White Yoga blocks are especially useful, as the softer recycled full and half blocks allow you to adjust the height. Lie so that your your skin rests in contact with the points. Relax and breathe deeply. If you are sensitive to pain you may like to try with a thin cloth between yourself and the mat, not too thick otherwise you will not feel the benefit of the Shajti Mat pressure points. Start with 10-15 minutes then progressively increase to longer sessions, typically 20-40 minutes.

There are detailed instructions included with each mat.
