WHERE ARE RUTH WHITE YOGA MATS MADE?

Ruth White Yoga Products was one of the first UK suppliers of the non-slip sticky Yoga Mat in 1981. Our adult and childrens Oeko-Tex Yoga Mats have been the choice of many leading yoga institutes, clubs, schools, teachers and students for many years. All our Yoga Mats are manufactured to a very high standard Germany.

MAT SAFETY

All of our Oeko-Tex yoga mats are tested against harmful substances for skin contact (Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Product Class II) to ensure your safety and covers articles which are worn or where there is significant direct contact with the skin. You can check the Oeko-Tex website for further information. Only good quality European Oeko-Tex yoga mats are subjected to this degree of quality control. We take this matter very seriously because there are an increasing number of cheap (and not so cheap) yoga mats which may well contain heavy metals, DOP softeners and other chemicals which would prevent them from receiving this accreditation. Our Oeko-Tex Yoga Mats are Latex Free.

YOGA MATS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

All Ruth White Yoga mats are made in accordance with strict environmental regulations which minimise the impact of their production on the environment. This can only be said of EkoTex™ yoga mats made in Europe.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR OEKO-TEX YOGA MAT

We currently stock several types of non-slip oeko-tex sticky yoga mats:

• The Classic mat is 4.5mm thick and 60cm wide, ranging in length from 140cm for children up to the very longest at 260cm. This mat has been available for over 25 years in Purple, Dark Blue and Light Blue.
• The Premier mat is 5mm thick, 60cm wide and 180cm long. This is a well padded mat, smoother on one side than the other to suit your needs. The mats are available in a range of bright colours.
• The Ampio Mat is 80cm wide and 5mm thick in lengths from 180cm up to 260cm. It is made from the same material as the Premier mat. Avaialable in Dark Blue, Rich Purple and Green
• The Travel mat is 60cm wide and 2.8mm thick in lengths from 140cm up to 260cm. It is made from the same material as the Classic mat. Available in Dark Blue
• Our heavy duty Ultra Yoga Mat is available in 200cm x 72cm x 6mm in Blue or Red.
• Our Fitness Yoga Mat is a lightweight, yet durable mat in Raspberry and Mid Blue 180cm x 61cm x 4mm.

What do you want from your yoga mat?

• A good mat will improve your yoga practice, an inferior mat will hinder it
• Will your mat last long enough and withstand repeated washing?
• Will the mat grip the floor and stop my feet from slipping?
• Will my mat wear in and improve with use?

Most people choose either the Classic Yoga Mat (4.5mm thick) since it offers a good balance of cushioning and excellent grip whilst remaining easy to roll up, carry and wash or the slightly denser Premier yoga mat. The wider Ampio yoga mat is ideal fro those who need a larger mat or do not want to be incontact with the floor. If you require an even thicker mat with maximum cushioning and support for knees, elbows, hip bones, spine and backs with excellent grip or are an Ashtanga, Power Yoga or Pilates practitioner we recommended the Ultra Yoga Mat is a better option.

Travel Yoga Mats are slightly thinner, good for feeling the firmness and stability of the floor in standing postures. The Travel mat can be folded to give extra padding if required and weigh less for taking away on holiday or just for the weekend

WEARING IN YOUR OEKO-TEX YOGA MAT

At first you may find that the mat is a little slippery. This is due to the manufacturer's surface 'finish' on all mats. It soon wears off. You may want to wash your mat to speed up the process to wear your mat in.

CLEANING YOUR YOGA MAT

All the Ruth White Yoga Mats (except the Ultra Black Mat) are machine washable at a low temperature (no more than 30°C) using a very small amount of washing detergent or you can wipe them down with a damp cloth. DO NOT tumble dry or put on a radiator to dry off. Allow lots of time to air dry and avoid folding or using your mat until it is completely dry, as this may shorten its life.

NINTENDO WII FIT BALANCE BOARD

These mats are ideal to use with your Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board, especially if you have wooden or tiled floors. Using a yoga mat is kinder on your feet and helps stop you slipping on the floor or carpet in postures like Warrior or doing lunges.
