Here is the training programme and syllabus outline for our Karuna Yoga Teaching Diploma Certificate. Each candidate has an attendance card, which they present or hand in at the end of each module. The complete course consists of 6 modules, which may be completed in two years but not more than four.

As a student you will need to:
  1. establish a daily practice
  2. continue with your weekly local class
  3. go to a second weekly class, either at the Yoga Centre or a local class
  4. do practical homework/reading as given in your newsletter
  5. attend 7 days of residentials for each module
  6. complete the coursework necessary for that particular module (see syllabus)
At some point during the six modules, you will be required to complete:
  1. a first aid course (these are held on residential weekends, usually twice a year)
  2. a term of philosophy classes or residentials which lead to meditation

Forthcoming events, practice tips and bits of inspiration are announced in the regular teacher training newsletter. There are many residential weekends, long weekends and weeks spread throughout the year and they are held all over the British Isles and in the Greek Islands. We also hold yoga days, some of which are in London (these count as one day towards a module).

Guest speakers give talks on our residentials and days. Subjects covered are listed on pages 8 and 9 of the syllabus. Students take an active part at these lectures, which are followed with questions and answers.

Pranayama can be practised in or after savasana and before breakfast on the residentials. Meditation and chanting are practised during residentials and days sometimes after savasana.
Modules gradually become more demanding and include:
NB Our teacher training classes can be converted into residential days (1 day = 6 classes)
